For the last 25 years it has been both an honor and a privilege to care not only for your pets, but to consider you part of the Atlantic Veterinary Center Family. Many things had to change for all of us when Covid-19 became part of our daily lives. But with your cooperation and a lot of extra effort from our staff, we got through it together. However, we still continue to struggle with multiple challenges. The most significant issue for us is our inability to attract an associate veterinarian and skilled technicians to our practice to help provide services to our loyal clientele. Without added medical support, we have been unable to accommodate many pets that needed our care. It is very difficult for us to tell clients, both existing and potential, that we are not able to help them due to lack of support staff.
While weighing the options open to us to help resolve this situation, we were invited to join Petco Health & Wellness Co. And while it was not an easy decision, having the support of the Petco team will allow me to focus entirely on the health and wellbeing of your pets.
After a two-week training period, the staff and I are going to be ready and anxious to greet you at our new location. You will also see other changes like extended hours and even some new Saturday availability. The most important thing that is not changing is the quality of care and personal service that you have come to expect from us. The Vetco Total Care Hospital will be located within the Petco Store at 693 Middletown Warwick Road in Middletown, DE. Do you have our phone number stored in your cell phone? Good! It’s going to be the same number which will make it easier for you to reach us starting June 20. Prior to that, while we are in training, we will be unavailable to care for your pets, fill prescriptions or dispense other products including pet food. However, if urgent care is necessary, we recommend contacting Blue Pearl in Christiana at 302-322-6933. Prescriptions can be filled through our online store which is accessible through our website or by clicking on the logo to the left of this document.
We know that some clients many be surprised by this sudden transition and even reluctant to consider utilizing corporate veterinary services. But we think you will be pleased with the additional benefits of this new arrangement. We feel very strongly that this is a great choice for you, your pets and our staff.
